Based in Cork, Ireland, UXR is a User Experience consultancy that helps amazing organisations create brilliant products that people love to use. We are research focused and results driven. Our staff have relevant degrees in related disciplines such as HCI, UX and human factors, many have conducted and published UX related work and experiments and are experts in their chosen field.

Our Team


Robin Deegan

robRobin is Director and Principal Consultant at UXR. Robin has a MSc, by research, in mobile UX, a BSc (Hons) in computing, with major in Interaction Design, and a Professional Certificate in Management. He has been well published in the area of Mobile UX and HCI and has won several awards for his work and research. Since 2005, Robin has consulted primarily in the areas of UX research, design and vison, working with a range of organisations from multinational to startup. In addition, he has casually lectured in Computing and HCI at third level. He has travelled and presented his research worldwide at seminars and conferences. He is driven to find new and improved ways to understand peoples interactions with technology. His specialty is UX Research.


Barry Gettings

barryBarry is a UX Consultant at UXR. Barry has a MA in media design and a BA (hons) in Multimedia. His MA Thesis was based on an Offline Social Media Prototype and included a conference paper that demonstrated the design process, and approach, that targeted community groups and Non Profit’s. Since 2010 Barry has gained considerable UX consulting experience. Specifically, he has managed small specialised teams as a lead designer; designing complex user experiences and architecting designs for rich interactive applications, in a range of domains from industry to academic research projects. Barry has exceptional user interface and experience design skills and a thorough understanding of user centered design principals. His specialty is UX Design.


Martin McCarthy

Martin is a UX Consultant at UXR. Martin has a MA, through research,  in Interaction Design and a BA (hons) in Multimedia. His MA Thesis was based on Interaction Design in the museum environment. During his work he has explored various techniques such as ethnography, prototyping, contextual inquiry, personas, scenarios & storyboarding, conceptual modeling, focus groups, iterative design cycles, etc. and synthesizing insights, from these techniques, into design principles. Martin has an excellent background in development, which helps him realise his designs and vision into testable prototypes. He currently lives in London and applies his expertise at “The Future Laboratory”. His specialty is UX Vision.
